Free UTM builder

Add source, medium and campaign tags to a landing page URL. Optional content and term fields distinguish creative and keyword variants. The builder runs in your browser, keeps other query parameters and needs no account connection.

01

Choose tags your reports can keep together

Source identifies the referrer. Medium names the channel. Campaign names the initiative. Content can identify the creative, while term can identify a paid keyword. Pick one convention and use it across the account.

Google Analytics treats values as case sensitive. This builder preserves the case you enter. Prefer consistent lowercase names so a campaign does not split into separate report rows.

02

A worked campaign URL

The default is an illustrative Facebook paid social campaign called autumn_sale, with video_a as the creative. The generated URL adds utm_source=facebook, utm_medium=paid_social, utm_campaign=autumn_sale and utm_content=video_a to the destination.

Existing query parameters and the page fragment stay in the URL. The five UTM fields in this form replace existing values of those fields; leaving content or term empty removes that tag. Spaces and reserved characters are encoded so an ampersand in a campaign name cannot become another parameter.

03

Test the landing page before publishing

Open the generated URL yourself and check that redirects preserve its tags. Confirm that the destination's analytics implementation records the visit with the expected source, medium and campaign. Generating a URL alone does not install analytics or verify attribution.

For Google Ads, manual UTMs do not replace auto-tagging. Review the account's analytics setup before changing either. This builder creates literal URLs; it does not validate or execute platform-specific dynamic macros.

FAQ

Common questions

Is this UTM builder free?

Yes. Generate and copy URLs without signing in or connecting an ad account. Form values stay in the browser and are not stored by this tool.

Which UTM parameters should I use?

Start with source, medium and campaign. Use content for creative variants and term for keyword detail when it is meaningful. Google Analytics recommends consistent naming across campaigns.

Does this replace Google Ads auto-tagging?

No. Auto-tagging uses a Google click identifier. Manual campaign tags describe the link. Check your analytics integration before changing auto-tagging or combining the two.

Why does my campaign name contain plus signs or percent codes?

These encode spaces and reserved characters in URL parameters. Analytics decodes the value. The builder preserves your text instead of letting punctuation create unintended parameters.
