Claude for marketing: what it can do for paid media
Claude handles much of paid media work on its own: reading exports, writing ad copy, building reports and researching competitors on the web. It cannot see your live ad accounts until you add a connector. With the Adrails connector it reads Meta, Google Ads and store revenue, and prepares changes you apply in Adrails.

Alone or connected
What Claude does alone and with a connector
Claude's own features cover the thinking and the writing. A connector adds the live accounts and the changes.
| Task | Claude alone | Claude with the Adrails connector |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly performance summary | From a CSV or spreadsheet export you upload | From Meta and Google Ads, read for the exact dates you name |
| Compare Meta and Google Ads | Only as far as your exports line up | Both platforms, same period, one table |
| Spend against store revenue | From two exports you reconcile | Shopify or Stripe revenue read next to ad spend |
| Keyword research | Ideas, without search volumes | Keyword Planner volumes and top-of-page bid ranges |
| Ad copy variants | From your brief and the brand guide in a project | Also from the copy of the ads running now |
| Competitor research | Web search on public pages, with citations | The same |
| Pause, resume or rebudget | Not possible: Claude cannot reach the account | A proposal you apply in Adrails |

What Claude does without any connection
Much of paid media work is reading and writing, and Claude does both without access to anything. Upload an export from Ads Manager or Google Ads and ask for the analysis: with Code execution and file creation turned on under Settings, Capabilities, Claude runs code on CSV and spreadsheet files and can return the result as an Excel file, a slide deck, a document or a PDF.
Turn on web search from the + button of a chat and Claude reads competitors' landing pages and public pages, with citations to check what it found. For copy, give it the offer, the audience and the constraints, and ask for variants to test rather than one answer.
- Analyze an export and build the weekly report
- Write headline and primary text variants for a test
- Draft creative briefs and test plans
- Research competitors' offers on the open web
02
Give Claude your context once: projects and skills
A project holds its own chats and knowledge base. Upload the brand guide, the offer, your margins and past test results once, and add instructions such as the tone and the metrics you report on. Projects are open to every plan, with up to five on the free plan.
Skills are folders of instructions, scripts and resources that Claude loads when a task needs them. A custom skill can hold your weekly report format or your naming convention, so the output comes back the same way every time. Skills need code execution to be on.
03
What needs a connector: live ad data
An export is a snapshot: it is out of date the next morning, and it holds only the columns you chose. To read the live accounts, Claude needs a connector, which is a remote MCP server Claude calls during the conversation. Custom connectors are available on the Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans; the free plan is limited to one.
Anthropic's guidance is to connect only servers you trust and to read Claude's tool permission requests before allowing them. Adrails is a connector built for this job: it reads Meta and Google Ads accounts, Shopify and Stripe revenue, Keyword Planner and the workspace's findings, and every change it prepares is applied from Adrails.

Connect Adrails to Claude
Add a custom connector in Claude with the server address https://adrails.ai/api/mcp. When Claude opens Adrails, sign in, choose the workspace and the permissions, and allow access. There is no API key or developer token to copy, for Meta or for Google Ads.
Read workspace data is required. Prepare advertising changes is a separate permission that only an owner or admin can grant. On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an owner of the Claude organization may have to add the connector first. The setup guide walks through Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT and Codex step by step.
05
Ask for evidence, then for a decision
Good prompts for paid media name the period, the accounts and the metric, and ask for the table before the interpretation. Adrails returns each result twice: exact data for the model and a readable table for you. When Claude states a figure, ask which result it came from.
Then ask for the decision: what to keep, cut or test next, and why. Claude reasons with your model and your plan; a tool call to Adrails uses no Adrails agent credit.
06
Keep a person on every change
When Claude asks you to allow a tool call, that is Claude's own permission prompt, not the step that applies the change. With Adrails, a pause, a budget change or a new campaign comes back as a proposal with a link. Open it, check the change field by field, then apply or decline it there.
When you apply it, Adrails reads the platform again and applies the exact change once, or blocks it if the campaign changed in the meantime. A proposal expires after 30 minutes, so an old suggestion cannot be applied by accident.
Prompts to copy
Six prompts for paid media work
Name the period, the accounts and the metric. Ask for the table first, then the reading.
| Prompt | What Claude does with Adrails |
|---|---|
| Compare spend, CPA and ROAS by campaign for the last 7 days against the 7 before, on every ad account. | Reads each account for both periods and returns one table with the change per campaign. |
| Which budgets should be kept, raised, cut or investigated this week? | Reviews every campaign or ad set that owns a budget over the last two complete weeks. It suggests no amount. |
| What did the store record last month, and what was our MER? | Reads Shopify or Stripe revenue, then ad spend for the same dates, and divides. |
| Find monthly searches for these 20 keywords in the US, then group them by intent. | Calls Keyword Planner on your Google Ads account, then groups the results. |
| Which images and videos win across our Meta accounts, and which are fatiguing? | Groups ads by the asset they use, across ads and accounts. |
| Raise the daily budget of our best campaign by 15%. | Prepares the change and returns a link to apply it in Adrails. |
FAQ
Common questions
Can Claude be used for marketing?
Yes. On its own it analyzes uploaded exports, writes copy and briefs, builds reports and researches competitors on the web. With a connector such as Adrails, it also reads live ad accounts and store revenue.
What are Claude connectors?
Connectors let Claude call external tools during a conversation. A custom connector points Claude at a remote MCP server, such as Adrails at https://adrails.ai/api/mcp.
Can Claude access my Meta or Google Ads account?
Not by itself. It reaches an ad account only through a connector. With Adrails, it reads the accounts connected to the workspace you chose when you allowed access.
Can Claude change my campaigns?
Through Adrails it can prepare a change, never apply it. An owner or admin applies each proposal in Adrails, and Claude's own permission prompt does not apply it.
Do I need a paid Claude plan?
No. The free plan includes projects, file creation and one custom connector. Paid plans raise the limits. Adrails proposals need an active Adrails plan.
